Winter Sweets Are Here

Til Gajak (Sesame Candy)

A speciality of northern India, Gajak is a dry sweet, made of sesame seeds or 'til' as they are known in Hindi.
Til Gajak is made especially made during the cold north Indian winter months since til (sesame) is believed to have warming properties.
A speciality of Western UP, Gajak and Revadi are dry sweets, made of gingelli seeds or til as they are known indigenously. However, while Gajak is til mixed with sugar syrup and set in thin layers, Revadi looks like small, almond shaped candies. Both these sweets are prepared using either sugar or gur (jaggery) as the sweetening agent and can be stored in airtight containers for almost a month.

Mumbai BEST Bus

The BEST buses are one of the most efficient modes of travel in terms of service and reliability for shorter and long distances.
The BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking) has a fleet of red single and double-decker buses. There are newly introduced air conditioned and low floor buses . Buses are numbered, and the final destination is marked on the front in Marathi and on the side in English.
Route details are put up in English on the board at many bus-stops.
And the locals are always more than happy to help you find your way... just ask one and you will find many get involved trying to help you out..!!!

Mankhurd Railway Station

A View Of Mankhurd Railway Station From The Highway

Mankhurd railway station lies on the Harbour line of Central Railway and is the last station in the city before entering Navi Mumbai, which is a satellite twin of Mumbai and the largest planned new city in the world.
After Mankhurd, trains cross the Vashi Bridge before entering Navi Mumbai.
The area around Mankhurd is dirty due to the presence of a large number of slums. The surrounding region near the creek is covered by acres of mangrove swamps.

The R. K. Studio Emblem

This is the emblem of the famous R.K.Films and Studios.
In 1951, Raj Kapoor, the great showman of Indian cinema laid the foundation of this studio in Mumbai.
Raj Kapoor was the son of the first great Indian film maker, Prithvi Raj Kapoor. He directed the super-hit movie Barsaat(means RAIN) in 1949. It had a passionate romantic theme and he starred in the film opposite the actress Nargis.
What is interesting is that Nargis' entwined image with the violin playing Raj Kapoor in the movie ''Barsaat' got immortalized as the emblem of the RK Banner.

Pigeon and my money plant

This pair of pigeons has been playing hide & seek with me for a few days now. They are trying to make a nest in my bedroom balcony and I won't allow my little garden to become a stinking kabutar khana (pigeon home forever). So, I clear the place before it lays eggs. Look, there's one of them, alert and watching out for me, outside my balcony near my money plant.
